Uncle Natcho Welcoming Kate.

This picture was taken of Uncle Natcho in front of Lamplugh Glacier, West Arm of Glacier Bay, Alaska, 12 hours after Kate was born, but 24 hours before he found out. Uncle Natcho was out in the Alaskan Wilderness guiding a trip for the entire month of July. His only means of communication was a satellite phone that he could use to check in every now and then with the International Wilderness Leadership School's headquarters. After Kate was born, I called the IWLS office and left a message for Natcho's next check-in.

Passport Picture

Yesterday Kate and I had our passport pictures taken. The photographer had a fun time taking Kate's picture...it's not an easy task to keep a 4 week-old baby's head straight and eyes open and looking forward!! But eventually we got one!

Like brother, like sister.

Check out these 2 pictures of Dylan and Kate. The top picture is Dylan. It was taken on 5/1/2006, when he was 7 days old. The bottom picture is Kate. It was taken on 7/26/2008, when she was 2 days old. There is no question that they are siblings!! And it was just a coincidence that they are both using the same 2 blankets in the picture.

The Arrival of # 2 - Kate Sophia West

After a long wait for labor to start, Kate wanted out as soon as she got to the hospital. Exactly 1 hour and 22 minutes after checking into the hospital she arrived. A healthy, beautiful girl at 9 lbs 5 oz, and 21 inches. Mom and Kate are both doing fine, and Dylan was excited to meet his little sis- even showing early signs of affection!
